Felony charges coming on Eliot Spitzer?

Fri May 16, 2008 at 01:53:58 PM PDT

I just made my afternoon visit to Intrade and noticed that the contract price has doubled today on Eliot Spitzer being indicted on felony charges by June 30 2008.

While the movement is on very small volume, it is unusual nevertheless.

Goodbye, Deborah Jeane

Thu May 01, 2008 at 07:25:13 PM PDT

Cross-posted by Will Bunch at my Philadelphia Daily News blog, Attytood:

As you've probably heard by now, the so-called "D.C. Madam," Deborah Jeane Palfrey -- about to be sentenced to a federal prison for charges related to running a high-class "escort service" for the rich and powerful in our nation's capital -- was found dead today in a shed next to her mother's retirement home in Florida.

One Can Only LAUGH At ALL This

Fri Apr 18, 2008 at 10:18:14 AM PDT

It's at times like these when we need to just take a step back, relax, and have a good laugh at everything that's going on around us.  It is for this reason, I started writing The Daily Dump
Check back everyday as I tackle the hardest hitting headlines with a twist of humor.

I love Obama, but we've gotta be realistic

Thu Apr 17, 2008 at 10:20:13 PM PDT

I can't even watch Countdown anymore. The lovefest is out of control. There are SO many diaries where people pretend to be critical of Obama and they always end up as lovefests. People complain about the Clinton attacks on Obama, but this is just the regular season. The republicans will be FAR worse when we get to the playoffs (whatever, I like sports metaphors).

SUSA: 18 Million Americans Have Been RickRolled

Wed Apr 09, 2008 at 12:18:25 PM PDT

Some misguided individuals may write polling diaries on presidential race polls, like the poll showing Obama up 8 in Pennsylvania or down 17 in North Carolina.

But nobody writes about the most crucial issue facing us these days:

How many Americans have been rickroll'd?

SurveyUSA estimates that at least 18 million Americans have now been "Rickrolled," according to this latest national poll of 959 adults, conducted 04/08/08.

Unsurprisingly, the major difference in the crosstabs is by age group.

7% of 18-34 year olds have been rickrolled, while only 3% of those in the John McAncient demographic have been rickroll'd. Moreover, 66% of 18-34 know what rickrolling is, whereas a majority of those 35 and up have no idea.

Chicago Sun-Times: Is Hillary Broke? (UPDATE PART DEUX WITH POLL!)

Fri Mar 28, 2008 at 12:04:57 PM PDT

We have been hearing about Hillary's money woes for weeks, ever since she loaned herself 5 Million dollars to make it through January. People began to wonder if the Clinton campaign was in serious trouble financially, but after announcing she'd raised 35 million in February those murmurs seemed to die down a bit.

Apparently, the murmuring is starting to get louder.

NY Post: Giuliani to run for NY Governor this fall if Paterson resigns?

Fri Mar 28, 2008 at 11:21:23 AM PDT

The New York Post is running the possibility of Giuliani for NY Governor in a special election this fall.

It seems

In the latest twist in New York politics, Rudy Giuliani is eyeing a run for governor in a special election this fall should Gov. Paterson be forced to resign, sources say.

A top adviser to the former mayor, who pulled the plug on his presidential bid in January, yesterday dangled the possibility of Giuliani's running in a special election

And our NYers might weigh in whether the state GOP sees this as an opportunity to keep pushing. I think forewarned is better than no warning, even if it's speculation. Be very afraid...or pop open a beer and laugh your ass off at Rudy's further political humiliation....

Did Bush Cause the collapse of the financial sector?

Fri Mar 28, 2008 at 06:37:33 AM PDT

Apparently, no one noticed Eliot Spitzer's article in the Washington Post ironically published the morning of one of his trysts with his $4,000 an hour hooker.  Everyone should read it if for no other reason than it is Spitzer's Last Hurrah.

Remember Martha

Thu Mar 27, 2008 at 10:14:25 AM PDT

For those whom the Remember Martha message resonates with, this message is gaining steam, and it carries virtually all the same powerful emotional effects as the phrase Remember 9/11 did for the rest of America.  Spitzer literally terrorized an American aristocracy when he was The Prosecutor, launching repeated guerilla attacks and surprise ambushes on the big bad boys, not just the small bad fry.  Justice was blind for a while, lashing out with her sword without utterly no regard to wealth, power, or station, and that was deemed definitely NOT OK by those who survived.

Why Eliot Spitzer was taken out, the true story? FOLLOW UP, Poll

Mon Mar 24, 2008 at 03:21:27 AM PDT

On my Diary Why Eliot Spitzer was taken out - The true story? 03/23/08, I pose as a question that there may be another narrative on why he was possible targeted for other motives rather than the apparently accepted one of his stupidity and arrogance as the reason given on why he was found out/caught, with ample visible indications that he was the best ally his enemies would hope for in support of this view.

To lay down the first element on why this episode deserves a closer look, I offered the Op-Ed piece by Eliot Spitzer published 02/14/08 on the Washington Post headlined Predatory Lenders' Partner in Crime, where he accuses the Bush Administration of aligning itself with the banks that were victimizing consumers via the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), by asserting:

Spitzer Fingered by Repub Operative, Not Bank?

Sun Mar 23, 2008 at 10:25:01 PM PDT

Talking Points Memo posted this article by McClatchy stating that Roger Stone, the Republican operative who staged the Republican "demonstrations" that stopped the Florida Vote count in 2000, wrote a memo to the FBI urging them to look into Spitzer's use of a prostitution ring four months prior to Spitzer's resignation.

Spitzer, Dupre mortgaged lives with subprime choices

Sat Mar 22, 2008 at 09:27:36 PM PDT

Several years ago, when I was practicing the craft of journalism in a small town, a co-worker who was disappointed with the community's exceedingly shallow dating pool planned a trip to Nevada. His primary purpose was the opportunity to patronize one of that state’s legalized brothels. Several of us at the office asked him why he would be willing to spend a significant percentage of his biweekly paycheck on a sexual encounter.

"You always pay for it," he responded with the world-weary cynical air of one who has picked up the tab on dinner and a movie one time too many.

Spitzer Absolutely Ratfucked By the GOP - Proof

Sat Mar 22, 2008 at 06:17:49 PM PDT

See, there's a very simple explanation for how federal investigators discovered Eliot Spitzer's secret trysts in hotel rooms with prostitutes.  They were merely alerted by a series of suspicious financial transactions and thought it was a bribery case and then just stumbled upon the prostitution ring.  It's all so very s-

What's this now?

Almost four months before Gov. Eliot Spitzer resigned in a sex scandal, a lawyer for Republican political operative Roger Stone sent a letter to the FBI alleging that Spitzer ''used the services of high-priced call girls'' while in Florida.

Why Elliot Spitzer was assassinated politically

Sat Mar 22, 2008 at 01:29:00 PM PDT

Information is now coming to light as to why Elliot Spitzer was politically assasinated.
