Just ten hours old, the Princess of Cambridge makes her first public appearance with her parents Prince William and Princess Kate. Unfazed by the cameras, noise and flashlights of the British press corps, the baby princess sleeps in her mother's arms. She will spend her first night at home in Kensington Palace with her parents and brother, Prince George.
Prince George visited the hospital earlier with his father and practiced his royal wave for the press corps.
The baby Princess of Cambridge is the first princess to be born in the British Royal Family this century. Prior to her birth, the last princess to be born to the direct royal line was the only daughter of the Queen, Princess Anne, in 1950.
Though not in the direct royal line, there are also Prince Andrew's two daughters, the Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.
Princess Anne's only daughter is Zara Tindall (nee Phillips), pictured here with her daughter, Mia.
The Queen's youngest son, Prince Edward, also has a daughter, Lady Louise.
