4Americans died in Niger; 4 Americans died in Benghazi, a simple parallel that begs one to compare.
If Benghazi was so horrific, calling for multiple Congressional panels to repeatedly implicate the Secretary of State destined to eventually lead her party’s ticket, how then can we sweep a far worse case of incompetence under a rug as if nothing happened?
Obama talked about Benghazi on Day One. Trump waited 2 weeks. We know how he feels about Americans who get captured (McCain). Is it that he feels even worse about those who get killed? If something does not make him look superlative, he is not interested in it. Dead Americans don’t exude star appeal to he who sends them there.
In Niger, it was an ambush by 50 insurgents. In Benghazi, it was an ambush by 50 insurgents. In Niger, the rest of Green Berets came under intensive fire, and had to pull back making rescue of the advance party impossible. In Benghazi the security forces also came under intense fire, and also had to pull back making that rescue impossible. In Niger, it was later determined that one body was missing, possibly still alive. In Benghazi, also one body was temporarily lost to those in the compound and was reported missing, possibly still alive.
Those of us battle-hardened by the Republican’s Benghazi empty probes, know deep down we should hold no one on our side at fault for either of these tragic losses of life. It is a shame we had to deal with its politicization due to Republican modus operandi. An even greater shame if we do the same while knowing better.
The actual blame for all 8 deaths covering both cases, belongs to the insurgents. Ironically since there are so many identical pieces to both events, we shouldn’t defend our individual partisan one while condemning that of the other. Neither should the other side. We know having lived in that alternate GOP universe 2012-2016, that pinning blame on anyone who was not an insurgent, winds up degrading our nation. Democrats should not go the way of Republicans. If there are to be hearings on Niger, let the Republicans run them, after all, everything Congress does now reflects on them.
But,
we don’t have to let go that this commander-in-chief is a coward. We have a long list. He gets bullied by Israel. He gets bullied by Russia, He gets bullied by North Korea. He gets bullied by Saudi Arabia and even Turkey. He gets bullied by China. He gets bullied by Mexico as well as the rest of Central America. He even gets bullied by Canada. He can not even stick up for his very own Attorney General, one who was with him from the beginning of his campaign. And above all, he does not stand up for his own military, until it gets pointed out to him that he’s been derelict in his duty as commander in chief to the greatest nation this world has ever seen.
Neither Obama and Hillary were cowards. Can’t say the same for this guy…. America has fallen a peg or two down.
